Parent Resident Visa NZ Changes: More Ballot Opportunities for Families
Immigration New Zealand has announced changes to the Parent Resident Visa category from 1 July 2025. The changes are intended to make the category clearer for families and create more opportunities for people in the Parent Category ballot pool.

Immigration New Zealand confirmed that the Parent Resident Visa category cap would reset on 1 July 2025 for the 2025/26 financial year.
Together with the removal of the queue allocation, this reset is designed to provide greater certainty about the number of places available. It also makes the process more straightforward for families planning a Parent Resident Visa application.
