From Cape Town to Wainui

My name is Charlie, I am from Cape Town South Africa and I moved to NZ with my wife and three daughters.

Challenges

The most challenging part of the process was: getting document-ready. To get any form of official document, within a reasonable time in South Africa, is extremely difficult and frustrating. Our adviser was Melissa Neuhoff. She was absolutely amazing during the process. Our personal journey took two years and her support, insightful guidance and patience was instrumental in making our dream a reality.

First impression

My first impression of New Zealand was how beautiful and clean it is. The people are friendly and life is at a different pace. What I miss from home is the higher speed limits on roads!

My advice

My advice to other migrants is to take it slow and enjoy each step regardless of the challenges it brings.

One thing I wish I knew before I moved was: how much it rains here! But we should've done it sooner and we recommend it to anyone contemplating the same path.
